VAGcom lead questions

Featured Replies

I see so many leads around, and am totally confused.

What do all the various leads do, and how comes folk on fleabay can sell them so cheap?

Looking to kit myself up to help local peeps. PS if anyone knows anything similar for Fords, it'd save me a dealer trip to turn some stuff on.

Thanks Stu.

What are all the different cables for though? I'd like to be able to hook up to as many VAG cars as possible, as have a number of friends I could assist with stuff.

Only for beer money/friends affair.

You need Hex+CAN then.

I think these are the cheaper ones to try -

For VCDS try

SAB Distribution - Home

They have the fully certified/genuine version at £235 (+£10 P&P)

There is a similar cable/software for Ford's, however the cheapest i have seen them (it was on offer at the time) was about 2.5K IIRC

I was thinking about getting a VagCom lead as I just got a laptop, but there pricey (for the little use it would get).

But extremely worth while if you run a modified car or one which it outwith of it's warranty.

Very true, although mine is unmodified but is outside of warranty.

I could get away with micro can, but want a hex can (805.00 ?) to help others out really.

Have to see how things stand the end of the month.
