Too fat...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

this morning I was reading the weight figures of my VRS TDI and just stared at TFSI ones  They're about 200Kg less!!!

Now, do all of this weight come from engine? How's that possible? What would be the heavier items? Is it possible to achieve some weight reduction w/o sacrificing safety or comfort?

I think it's the engine and it's additional systems, nothing lighter on the petrol Vrs.

IIRC I thought it was less than 50kg between the two and that not all of that was over the front of the car.

Infact I'm reading a mere 30Kg difference on cartuningcentral.com...

Hmm, I'll look on my car papers...

Thank you,

Stefano

From the brochure:

HATCH:

vRS FSI-T

- Kerb Weight = 1,470 KG

- Total Weight = 1,940 KG

vRS PD170

- Kerb Weight = 1,500 KG

- Total Weight = 1,970 KG

ESTATE:

vRS FSI-T

- Kerb Weight = 1,485 KG

- Total Weight = 1,955 KG

vRS PD170

- Kerb Weight = 1,515 KG

- Total Weight = 1,985 KG

So, Estate is 15 KG heavier than Hatch and Diesel is 30 KG heavier than Petrol.

So a "FAT" diesel estate is a total of 45 KG heavier than a "SLIM" petrol hatch.

With, I guess, 30ish KG extra over the front and 15ish KG over the back.

...perhaps the guy who compiled figures on the magazine I was reading was drunk... uh, oh... perhaps myself... even in the early morning... hic!

I guess the numbers from the magazine are for whole O2 line - from 1.4MPI Hatch to 2.0TDI Estate :).

...I'm pretty sure I was staring at VRS TDI and TFSI differences... hic!

Perhaps too much Becherovka in the evening...

Anything worth removing in O2, anyway (without sacrificing safety and comfort)?
