Featured Replies

Hi !!

I just order yesterday my Superb (with all extras list :-)) ) ..With Columbus ..

Can you tell me anyone if have Cyprus Maps..??

Or if not ... Is compatible with another maps (from another GPS) ?

Thanks

if the dealer was actually able to order it, then it should in theory come with maps appropriate for your locality. I know you can get western europe and eastern europe on seperate disks.

Thanks for the fast reply.!!!

The local Dealer Here..It is not vey sure if have the Cyprus Maps.!!

Is the first Superb With Columbus here in Cyprus !!

..

From what I understand, the Eastern Europe disk for the Columbus has maps for the following countries:

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia (Kaliningrad), Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Ukraine

So, it looks like Cyprus is covered, but I'm not sure to what detail. It could be just major roads and motorways. I've got the Eastern European disk knocking around somewhere, so I'll load it up and see what coverage there is.

Is there a specific address or location you'd like me to check for?

On the subject of alternative maps, there is one disk that can be made to work, and that is the one that is supplied with the latest BMW navigation systems. Both the Columbus and BMW navigation units are made by the same company, and share a lot of components. The BMW disk won't work straight away, as you need to modify some files on it to fool the Columbus into thinking it's a Skoda DVD. Right now, there wouldn't be a lot of point in this, as the BMW and Skoda maps come from Navteq and are at the same version. If BMW were to issue an update before Skoda, then it might be worth investigating.

I've just checked both of my navigation DVDs (Western and Eastern Europe), and there is no coverage for Cyprus on either of them. The closest we get is coverage for Greece. Navteq do have mapping data for Cyprus, so it could be that there is a specific disk just for countries in your region (Cyprus, Turkey etc.)

I would suggest that you e-mail an enquiry to Skoda in the Czech Republic, and ask them to clarify what map coverage you will get.

...or move to the UK !!! LOL
