Engine cover

Featured Replies

I'm back to a good old Skoda in the form of a Octy VRS 56 plate.

Now my question is how the devil do you get the engine cover off, I was wanting to have a look at the air filter and general nosey round underneath it.

On the subject of air filters would a filter that fits a Mk1 Octys vrs, R32, TT and such like fit in the MkII Octy? If not what's the best sort of filters for them?

The filter for the cars you mention wont fit your 56 plate vRS I'm affraid. If it's a straight forward like for like replacement then look at K&N or Jetex, both do a performance version for the TFSi, if it's something more i tune with a CAI then do a quick search on here and you'll turn up loads of info as it's been covered many times before.

As for getting to the filter you need a bit of brute force to remove it initially as thay can be a bit stiff, having removed the air intake pipe grab the rear of the engine cover and give it a good hard tug which should pull off the rear lugs now do the same with the front so it's now free to be removed.

A little tip, when you replace it squirt a little bit of silcone spray onto the rubber bungs, makes it a lot easier for removing next time round

Ah ha. I was pulling at it from all angles but was scared i was going to break it. Will give it a go when i get home.

I'll just sell my old filter then.

What's the script with the EVOMS kit. Anyone got anypictures of them fitted and how loud are they?
