Connects2 Ipod Adaptor for Fabia vRS - Pics

Featured Replies

If I used a longer cable, I could have the best of both worlds if I decided to change my mind (or just take the hu and change the 3.5mm cable). Sitting up top on the dash or with a clip for the excess cable and stowed away in the cubby hole.

Placing an order for connects2 now. :)

I'm a little confused. You mention 3.5mm cable? The Connects2 uses a 'proper' iPod connection, which plugs into the bottom of the iPod. This is an amped connection and you get a much better sound quality, and all volume control is handled by the HU.

With the std cable run you could have it in the cubby hole or have the iPod attached a vent or dash mount.

My cable comes out of the back of the cubby hole - alhough mine is a bit smaller because I have the Polo cup holders.

As can be seen on the pics, I have an older Ipod which is to fat for my narrow cubby, so I use the vent holder.

But when its not in use, I can push the loose cable back through the hole in the back of the cubby so it keeps things nice and tidy.

Parka - I see you are in Cheshire. I may well be going to the Stretton Fox meet next Sunday - http://briskoda.net/north-west-skoda-meets/n-west-meet-stretton-fox-august-2nd/150906/2/. Pop along if you want to have a look at my install.

In fact if Wardy is going too we could probably give you a lift fitting it - I've got some radio removal keys.

Ah, was getting slightly confused between the two products. I just assued they were both 3.5mm connectors, but then the ipod version wouldn't be able to control anything! doh! Good job you mentioned that though, as I was going to buy an iPod -> 3.5mm convertor which in addition to the cost of the aux version, would make it the same price as the iPod version.

I think I might make the trip and take you up on the kind offer of use of the removal keys, its only about 20 mins away from me.

Now I need to find somewhere that will deliver the iPod version before next saturday! :D

Sorry mate - not sure whether you got the unit in time - but one of the kids is ill so I'm not going to be able to make this meet.

I've posted a request in the main thread to see if anyone else can help - http://briskoda.net/north-west-skoda-meets/n-west-meet-stretton-fox-august-2nd/150906/2/

hey, if anyone still around on this thread im having trouble with my connects 2 ctaskipod001 adapter, i have followed the instructions that aren't sent with it but they are pretty vague and when i plug my ipod in to the adapter it comes up saying its connected but not recognised with device and then i can not play music through it.. is the head unit meant to be on cd? or does there need to be a cd in as i can't work out what other setting to have it on?

any help would be much appreciated, also there is a thin black wire that im not sure what to do with that is attached to the connects 2 adapter.

Bit of thread resurrection, for that I apologise. I purchased the Connects2 adapter, however, the connector doesn't fit into the back of the head unit. It should be a longer connector, but I have a square'ish blue connection. Is this the correct unit?!

OK...got it connected, but I am also slightly confused by the random black cable. It is obviously a live cable, as it sparked when holding against the case, but whilst doing so, the iPod came to life and started to play. How can we attach this to the unit securely, and safely, so that it all works?!

I've recently bought one of these and it works great - but I get engine noise through the stereo wherever I ground the connects 2 unit.

Any suggestions on a fix? I considered trying to tandem it into the black (12v-) on the radio harness, would this cure it?

(I have tried pretty much anything it will reach, the radio, the dash frame, the seat mounts, the gearstick mount... No joy!)

You can get suppressors to block out alternators noise.

They're fairly cheap.

This is one type, but you can also get in line types too:

FWIW, it might be worth checking the condition of the alternator too, as usually noise means a bit of wear in it.

No idea if you can still just change the bushes these days.

Hmmm it could potentially be my alternator... I have a whirr from the auc belt that it is engine speed related which I had guessed was the aux belt tensioner!

How would I check alternator condition?

If not I will have to spend time searching for a decent ground point! The cd/radio seems to be fine - just my connects2 unit that is noisy!
