Superchip for Octavia II

Featured Replies

I'm currently interested in putting a superchip (Superchips New Zealand - Rediscover the joy of the open road) and was wondering what was everyone's opinion on the upgrade? and is it better/worse than any other upgrade. I'm really just upgrading to prevent that shudder on first gear, as in Australia it's quite hot (40 degrees +) and with the a/c running and increased load on the engine it's struggling quite a bit off first gear at times. Anyhoo's what is everyone's opinion on the superchip upgrade?

Thank you,

Jacob

Superchips are a pretty conservative mapper, their products work well. If you get a bluefin it can be had for a nice price at the moment. As you are in NZ it is a little tricky to know exactly what makes sense there temperature etc wise, but it may be worth dropping SC an email :)

What model of Octy is it?

Have you tried a few more revs before taking off (assuming you have a manual) ? My Octy "grumbles" (low frequency audible vibration) if I let the revs go much below 1,500 as I take off up a steepish hilll from my driveway when cold.

Before you plump for a remap you might want to investigate the issues associated with warranty, insurance and even basic roadworthiness/legality (depending on state - in the ACT they want an engineers certificate and individual emission testing).
