Restricted hours insurance?

Featured Replies

Someone has informed me that the horrendous cost of insuring a 'new to the road 17 year old lad', can be substantially reduced if he is willing to restrict his driving to daylight hours and with a limited mileage.

Despite a google search, I cannot find anyone that appears to offer this....unless you can tell me otherwise of course.

Hi,

Norwich Union used to do pay as you drive insurance were you paid by the mile and if you drove at night etc you got charged a lot higher rate.

But we don't offer anything like that just the 12 month policy.

You say "used to", does that mean they no longer offer that option?

Thanks for at least making the enquiry on my behalf. Much appreciated, and most helpful.

If I don't have any success with N.U., I'll be getting in touch to do some business in 5 months time.

Was there something punted on the news a while back about people having a black box installed in their cars to reduce their insurance?

From what I could gather yesterday talking to others they don't offer it any more or if it is still available it is in a different way now.

Sorry I can't help further.

Dan.

would you really want a little black box knowing every time you slightly exceed the speed limit, or brake too harsh or even fart!

We have got trackers on the home shopping vans where I work, and they know everytime you do anythink, speed, brake too harsh, even when you open any door of the bonnet!

I has opened my eyes to how much they can monitor you now!
