Thunk under braking

Featured Replies

Hey folks, pretty simple really, when i brake i'm getting a thunk noise from the rear passenger side of the car, not all of the time but mostly at low speeds. It could be the sub sliding around in the back but i've had it in for 8 months and havn't noticed it before... any ideas?

Also, my brakes are squeaking big time, and have done since they were replaced a year ago, anything to worry about?

I need to get this bloody speedo problem sorted too! argh!

I'd run her up to Unit18 ;)

Possible causes. Worn rear axle bushes, loose brake caliper, faulty damper or spring broken, exhaust hitting bodywork somewhere, check exhaust hangers, also check wheel for play with car on axle stands, and rotate wheel and listen to the wheel bearing.

Also make sure nothing is rattling about in the spare wheel well

for the squeeking check your pads are ok. If there is plenty of depth left on them slap a little bit of copper grease on the back of them (being careful not to get any on your discs or the braking side of the pads) - this will stop the pads vibrating against the calipers when under braking.
