Anyone know where it is exactly on the 1.9's ?

Picture would be really helpful and appreciated.

Sorry, I've no pic - but I'm sure this is on the lower rad hose, or there abouts. That said I've no factual basis for that opinion... :o

Lummox? Care to confirm and put me out of my misery? :)

I've heard a rumour it's on the rear of the head, hope not but knowing VW it is.

On a 110 TDi Octavia (i know its a different engine) it is next to the bulkhead at the back of the block just before the gearbox, it might be in the same position? (so on a Superb it would be back of the block drivers side).

When you take the top cover off it should be pretty easy to see (water hose with a wiring loom going to it)

Its right around the back of the cylinder head.

Usually have to feed your hand and arm around above the exhaust manifold

Ha ha. I couldn't have been more wrong. :o

Thanks :)

Ok, quickest easy method I found to do the job, remove egr main feed hose and small breather one, take out the airbox, this means off with the MAF,large feed hose, then you have room as Lummox said earlier to feed your arm through above the exhaust, use flat blade to push down on sensor clip, remove clip by hand and pull sensor out, at this point mind your hand if the engine is hot I wore marrigolds, lol, remove the connector block by leaning a small flatblade screwdriver back towards the engine in the block clip, fit new O ring to sensor and push back into engine, fit clip back on and check the sensor is secure, fit block to sensor and top up anti freeze, and simple reverse the above to complete the job, run the engine for 15 mins with the heater on max setting to remove air from cooling system, top up if the level falls and check again once cooled down. hth.

I would also suggest that whilst the EGR main feed hose (mentioned by Supurbia) is off, give it a good examination. Check for holes or splits in this hose.
