Lambda probe: where is it?

Featured Replies

Good evening to everybody

First of all, i apologize for my English but it's not my first language (i write from Holland)

After about 105.000 miles (or 170.000 km) with my Octavia II 1.6 MPI i got on the infamous light of MIL (or "check exhaust").

A quick test with a obd scanner (thank you ebay) revealed the error code P2626 that AFAIK is about intermittent signal from the first lambda probe (the one before the cat), and actually it looks not a continuos condition:

When i reset the falult codes, i can drive for a while with no errors showing up (in several test i see thet i got the light on after a range form 10 to 35 miles) and i thought about checking the wiring before replacing it BUT.....

I guess i'm particulary dumb ;) because i'm unable to locate the 1st lambda probe: should be accessible from the engine compartment or the caar needs to be put on a lift?

Thanx in advance for your help!

Don't apologise about your English, most Dutch people speak it better than we do !!

Well, finally i was able to find it (once i discovered wich cablage was the one).

No visible damage on the cable and on the connector, so i guess time to buy a new one.

Just one question: can somebody confirm me that the following fault code refers to the 1st lambda (the one on the Exhaust mainfold) ?

P2626 Linear Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1 Pump Current Trim Circuit: Open - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Thanks a lot!

Yes, B1 S1 is bank 1 sensor 1, which is the first probe.
