When changing the headlight lamps of my 2007 Fabia I accidently dropped my lighter between the back of the headlightblock and the engine... I can't reach it by hand...

Any tips on how to get it out?

If your lighter's got any steel on it, then you might be able to get it with one of those telescopic bolt finder things with the magnets on the end. Otherwise you'll probably have to put the car on a ramp or axle stands and take off the undertray to get it out from underneath.

Unless it's a particularly nice lighter, I'd just leave it, though - it'll fall out eventually!

Typically if I drop something it to somewhere I can't get it out from, I turn the object upside down and shake it.

drive round a roundabout fast and loads! Then go over some speed bumps and see if that shakes it out!

Failing that take the engine out with a small crane and get inside the engine bay that way!
