Door lock felicia - exploded diagram pls

Featured Replies

My friends 1999 felicia has a barrel which spins with the key in, upon opening up the door panel, he found that someone has disconnected the lock releasing lever from the the rear of the barrel. Until I know how to reassemble I can't really diagnose the problem. If it was assembled and spinning it would be the coil spring (from reading this forum).

How does the lever attach to the lock barrel? Currently there is a rod going from the barrel down to the door lock mechanism, on the top end of this rod is a shiny metal plate about 5cm long, with what I remember to be a round hole at the "barrel" end the hole seems big enough to slide over the rear of the barrel.

I need an exploded diagram please or a very descriptive explanation.

The panel is back on the car at the moment and I only got a glimpse of the mechanism. I told him I will look at it soon, and I wish to have some knowledge before I do look at it.

thanks

Actually I found this just now from anewman, who is a poster here, so thanks anewman, this pic should help me a bit.

Still would appreciate that exploded diagram though.

Quick update:

Everything seems to be ok, but the problem will be re-assembly of the unit in the tight space on the inside of the door, especially the spring. But I need to know which way around the lock barrel goes in the door, there is a lug on one side, is the lug to the rear or the front of the car?

Then the lever goes on? then how does the spring locate on which lugs and etc etc

cheers

Thanks for the help, unfortunately it's not detailed enough. I joined the site and did some searching myself and found the same diagram for the favorit, which we know is different from the felicia.

It doesn't show the spring or the cap to which the spring attaches or the circlip - I know the circlip goes on last, I'm just showing an example of what is missing from the picture.

Does anyone know if I can release the ball joint from the white plastic end of the rod (No. 6 on the diagram)? Or will it break the plastic?

I think if I can undo the rod end, then I can assemble the lock/barrel spring, lever, circlip etc off the vehicle, and save a lot of fiddling about inside the door, then just feed the rod/lever/barrel in through the door, and re clip the ball joint on the rod end to the lock mechanism.

Forgot to say...

I think the original problem might have been the coil spring end has slipped off the ring which has lugs on to catch the spring, the ring goes on the barrel just before the circlip. I think the lugs on the ring might be rounded, which allowed the spring to fall off. I might have to go to scrappy for new ring or cut a new notch into the existing rounded lug to locate the spring end into.

With the plastic ball joints on mine I had no problems pulling them off and pushing them on. Only thing is it might need a bit of force and wiggling. Long nose pliers might come in handy. I've done this on a few of them and none have broken, but they're only £1 or 2 off ebay anyway.

If number 12 is still fitted this can be removed (with difficulty) by squeezing it and manoeuvring it through the door panel (after removing the nut and retaining clips). The other option I've seen someone use is to smash it to pieces and leave it off. All I think it's there for anyway is to stop the coat hanger down the side of the window theft attempts. It's more hassle than it's worth and best left off IMO.

On the Felicia locks I think you may be able to swap them over as it uses double sided keys. So if the driver's lock is broken, you may be able to swap this with the passenger lock barrel - but to state the obvious if the other lock breaks getting in through the boot won't be fun :D

No. 12 is off already, might not be putting it back.

Both door locks have been dismantled already, I don't know the history of why or in what state they were in before. There is only a need for one door lock working, so I will look at parts from the other lock if I need them for drivers side.

Good news about the white plastic ball joints - thanks, what do you search for on ebay to get replacements?

It's fixed now. We left out the spring. It works fine.

The plastic ball joint covers did pop on and off easily.

And we refitted No.12 as it was easy enough to do.

I think No.12 is a guide for the window to wind down into.

Thanks for the help.

Nah, no12 is an anti-theft cover
