Felicia 1.3LXi overheating?

Featured Replies

I've recently purchased a Felicia 1.3LXi, and its mostly in good order, but there is some kind of problem with the cooling system I think.

When driving, even for long periods, the temperature needle doesn't go up at all from its lowest position. When stopped, the needle rapidly rises to max temperature, and the fan then cuts in. From one extreme to the other! :(

My current plan is to flush the system and replace the thermostat to see if that helps. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Bob.

Do a search; it's usually either the thermostat or the coolant temperature sensor.

the part where the temperature doesn't go up, is the thermostat that is damaged on the open position, so it takes too long for the engine to heat up

the part where the engine gets too hot too fast is eyther a loose reservoir cap, a problem with the fan or with the radiator temperature sender,

i recently had some troubles with mine where it over heated, it was the contact from the cables after i wiggle the cables it was fine, so first chance i had, i disconected everything, clean the contact point, refited and sprayed some DW-40 to prevent moister from coming in... It works perfect so try that first and try to get all of the air out of the system, turn your engine on, remove the reservoir cap, squeeze all the hoses and accelerate the engine rapidly a couple of times to get all the bubbles out of the system, and turn the heater on while doing this as well...

sound like a small problem so don't worry (i know its scarry when engine over heats)
