Cracked indicator lens saga

Featured Replies

Showed my car to the nice man from the parts department so he could order the correct lens. The book the car in to get lens fitted.

I phoned the day before fitting to make sure the part was there, no reply from dealer. Took car in anyway. After two hours I returned to dealer, lens not replace.

Dealer claims the labels on the box looked right but the wrong part was inside. Service did not open the box till car arrived.

For a company like Skoda, what is the odds of this kind of cockup?

I think the dealer ordered the wrong part and is then trying to blame Skoda.

The same happened to me with my nearside mirror repeater, the one in the box didn't have the puddle light incorporated into it but the label on the box contradicted this. Luckily for me they had a few in stock and another box had the right bit in it.

It can happen from time to time and I think you have just been unlucky. The service bods will most likely open the box once the car is in the workshop.

I get the same thing happen to me on site from time to time - box label says 'Part ABC123 when in fact the part inside is 'XYZ789'

It does happen and has happened to me more than once in the past. The chances are that the dealer is telling the truth.

We have a Golf sat in our workshop. We replaced the fuel pump on it but it needs a new seal, ordered the seal wrong one turned up in the packet so ordered another. That one was wrong, got the warehouse to do a bin check. Every packet has a wrong seal in it, called the factory and guess what. every seal in the country and at the factory has been packaged up wrong, doh!

When i worked in the dealers ,we usd to say weve got the right part but the wrong car :)

Exactly the same with my new headlight unit.

Had it happen to a replacement windscreen, dropped my car off at the dealers first thing, got a call about 10:30 saying that the fitter had turned up and found that the screen in stock was cracked
