Windscreen washer jets

Featured Replies

Hello folks, Just a quick one :)

Since i got my car (only last week mind you) the drivers side wiper blade has been bouncing a little, the blade seems in perfectly OK condition. But i have noticed that the drivers side washer jet isn't squirting as much washer fluid as the passenger side so i guessed that when it goes up (not bouncing) it is wiping a wet screen, but when it comes down (when it bounces) it is wiping on a dry screen.

Whats the easiest way to unblock a partially blocked washer jet? I had a look under the bonnet but it appears you can't get in that way, you have to remove the trim at the bottom of the wind screen where the wipers are. I have tried the pin down the nozzle trick but that didn't do the trick. So does anyone have any idea how to unblock them without dismantling half of my car?

Also, while i'm here, what generally causes squeeky brakes? I have discs on the front and i believe drums on the rear (2002 1.4 classic..poormans car i know ). It seems to stop adequetley but i get a lot of people turning around and looking when i come to a stop, rather annoying aswell. It didn't do it when i first got the car, its only started doing it in the last 3 - 3 1/2 days or so, and doesn't do it all the time either, just the majority. Any ideas on this one?

Thanks in advance

Matt:)

Didn't realise they were so cheap, will pop in to the local dealer and order some (unless they stock them). Need a few other bits and bobs aswell :)

Thanks

use an air blast to do it. thats what i do with my trucks

Got some from the dealer, can't remember what price they were, just over £4. Thought i would have to take the front trim off at the bottom of the windscreen to change them, but i just flicked out the old ones with a screw driver, help the pipe with some pliers and pushed the new ones onto the pipe and voila (thought i might aswell change them both)

Rather than being blocked, turns out the drivers side one had lost the little plastic bit on the front (that has the little hole in it), thus the washer fluid wasn't coming out with any pressure, so was only squirting on the bottom of the screen, because the drivers side wiper blade had been wiping a near dry screen, it had screwed up my wiper blade aswell. Got some new bosch ones from halfrauds (thought i'd go for the decent ones with the spoiler on it). Makes a HUGE difference on the motorway :)
