Manual headlights adjust?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I just bought a P reg skoda felicia gli 97, and one of the headlights is pointed really high and the other is in normal position.

I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how can I adjust the headlights manually, since the inside light adjuster is not working.

Thank for ur time, guys!

The inside adjuster wouldn't help anyway, because it ajusts both lights together; if one's aimed high then when you get it down the other's lighting inside the wheel arch! ;)

I suspect what's happened is that one of the adjusters for the inside adjustment has failed, and allowed the light to aim high. On the offchance that I'm wrong, if you look at the back of the headlight you'll see 3 screws, one at the outside corner, one halfway up the inside edge, and one half-way along the top. If you turn the top one clockwise, that should lower the headlight aim.

Thank u guys

I'm goin to check it out tomorrow morning, and let u know if worked!

Cheers

If you have a level drive and a garage door or wall you can shine your head lights onto, the screws on the headlamp can give adjustment very close to legal position. If you want to be really serious about it, makes sure the car is exactly level, and adjust the lights at full beam so the height above ground of the centre of the beam on the wall or garage door is the same as the height of the centre of the head lamp on the car. Works on my Favorit, anyway, and used to work on my Series 2 Morris Minor.

Find a longish stretch of flat road facing a wall/garage door (if your driveway isn't long enough or flat enough, then try a nearby car park)

Park your car a foot or two away and shine your low beams on the wall. Mark the center of the bright spots with an "X" using tape.

Reverse the car until you are about 25 feet from the wall. The center of the bright spots should shine on the X's, no higher, no lower and not to the left or right.

(if both are equally to the left or right of the X's then you just cant reverse very straight) :D
