electric windows lowering

Featured Replies

please can anybody give me an i dea ,occasionly if i lock/unlock the car all 4 windows lower and stay down. has anybody esle hadthis problem?

with the key in door or with remote unlocking?

My vRS does it if the key is held in the unlock position in door & windows up if held in locked postion

an alientech controller if fitted can cause the windows to drop when unlocking and to roll up when locking.

I have a kvw100 which enables me to do this.

i have found out that other vw's can do the same, the windows lower occasionally if i use the key, i will try it out & see if it happens to be if i am holding the lock i ope postion

sorry i dont know what an alientech controller or a kvw100 are

An Alientech controller is wired into the door electrics and a KVW100 is a box that plugs into the OBD port and flashes the central convenience unit. Both of these do the same thing and allows windows to be raised or lowered when locking/unlocking with the remote.

alientech also enables vent mode, as well as full roll up/down and deals with the sunroof.

Thats convienience mode the same as the vws have. If the key is held in the unlock for a second or two the windows all come down and in reverse they go up again. I recently contacted VW as a few of their vehicles in my area had been broken into by screwing the lock with a sharp implement which has the same effect as the key. Car owners found cars broken into and all 4 windows down on return. I tried holding the key on my vrs and it does the same. Not good really.

Yes, on my Octavia I TDI (1999 my), since a week or so. My first guess, yet to be confirmed by an inspection, is a mechanical problem due to lock cylinder/mechanism wear - it doesn't have a remote, so the driver-side door must have done a lot of cycles (the odometer displays 218,000 km).

It all started on a snowy day when the key wouldn't come out of the lock. When it finally did, after an apparently normal locking, it suddenly unlocked and lowered all 4 windows. Now it takes only a slight rotation overshoot to achieve the same. Tried a liberal application of WD40, but to no avail. It will probably take some harder work and hopefully no spares as I want to sell it by next fall.

Good luck.
