fabia vrs wouldnt start this morning!!!

Featured Replies

i recently bought my first furby vrs, 06 plate with low miles. when i went in it this morning and turned the key nothing happened!

the battery isnt dead as evrything works but when i turn the key i get the bleep sound and all the lights on the dash comes up for a second but no cigar!

what could this be do you all think? starter motor?

its still under warranty but getting it to the garage is my concern as its 25 miles away!

any help/info will be much appreaciated.

thanks

Are you sure it isn't the battery?

Everything before you attempt to start the car or heat the glowplugs requires a low amount of current/power - but glow plugs + starter motor require a large amount of current & power

Don't rule out the simple thing quite yet :)

you might be right but i did try the lights ect and all was fine, ill try and borrow a tester from work to ckeck it out tonight.

has anyone else had similar problems with their fabias?

Could be starter motor or immobilizer fault. Scan for codes and go from there. Could still be battery though, diesels eat batteries for breakfast.

finished work early so i could have a proper look. it turned out to be the small wire that goes to the starter motor had gone brittle and broken off right at the end where it enters the plug! have stuck it back in for now untill i take it to the garage as they should do this under the warranty, but the thing is god knows how they are going to replace the wire as it goes into a loom of cables!:(

seems to be quite a common fault at the moment , there was another thread the other day with the same fault
