q.2 the parking does not work i checked the book and it says that if a tone sounds for 3 seconds once in reverse then there is a technical fault i checked the fuse no problems there, so any suggestions and if so how much

regards will

I have a 05 octy and have the 6 CD multichanger but no mp3 socket on the car. I believe later cars have this, but I'm sure some one here will assist further.

Hi stacon, you are quite correct, the mp3 socket is fitted to cars with the stream mp3 radios. I fitted a Densio Gateway 100 and a Gateway CD retention kit. It's quite an easy job to fit (must be if I can do it) try this link Dension: Home for more information and suppliers. :)

The parking sensors should under normal operation:

Emit a short beep when engaging reverse. If the car is parked close to an obstacle to the rear a constant tone will be emitted as soon as reverse is engaged.

Once moving backwards will emit short beeps in steadily increasing frequency until a constant tone is emitted.

If the 3 second tone is heard you would need to have the fault codes (if any) read with a diagnostic tool to determine the cause of the fault. Personally I would speak to the garage that sold you the car.

It could be one of the 4 sensors on the bumper, the wiring or the control unit at fault.

Someone's obv sold it becuase they had a denson unit fitted.

Doh!

I have an Octi 06 Plate............had her for 4 days now and interested to read your bit about the Densio. Presume if I looked at fitting the 500 I would lose my parking assist?

BTW as you may have guessed I haven't a clue about the car yet :D

EDIT.........Just noticed that the Dension Gateway is an extra not the radio bit in the front.............so does anyone know a radio unit that can replace the Skoda on in the front? Very bland looking indeed!!

I have a 56 reg Elegance that was built a couple of weeks short of the Stream MP3 becoming standard (so no Aux socket either).

I have the Dension fitted, and while the controls on the head unit don't always work correctly with my iPod touch it sounds great and charges the iPod. It doesn't effect the function of the reversing sensor display on the head unit.

If you want to replace the Stream how about the Blaupunkt MP68 Jersey? I did briefly think about fitting this, but the Dension was £100 compared to £300 for the Blaupunkt plus the cost of the iPod interface for it, and I did wonder about the theft risk of fitting a non-standard stereo.

Blaupunkt - Car Radios - Bluetooth Tuners - New Jersey MP68

No reversing display however if this is fitted.

Just looking at the costs of replacing the Stream but decided against it to be honest. I do quite like the look of the Kenwood DNX-5220BT but cost plus the wife has given me her TomTom now so Nav no longer required. My car came with Blue Tooth already installed and although an old piece of kit works very well with my HTC Touch HD although not tried the voice activation yet?

However I do have a lot of music on MP3 media but not an Apple I-Pod.

What I am after is possibly a connect to stream my MP3's to my Stream? Maybe via SD card or USB?
