Where do I find the Crank Sensor?

Featured Replies

Hi There, I am new to this forum so Hello!

This is probably an incredibly dumb sounding question, but I am trying to find out where the Crank sensor is on my 1999 Felicia 1.3 Petrol.

The car wont start this morning, the starter is turning over but it is not firing. Having looked around the forum it sounds like the likely culprits are the crank sensor or the immobiliesr.

If someone could point me in the right direction of this sensor that would be a great help, or if anyone has any other suggestions as to what might be up!

Thanks,

Mick

On top of the flywheel housing

BTW... if it was the imobiliser i think the car would fire and run for a few seconds then die.

I had a crank sensor fail on mine with the same symptoms and once it was replaced worked perfectly.

just to add, also the fuel pump relay can cause non-start issues, but the crank sensor would be the first thing i'd check

Thanks for all the help.

I found the crank sensor and checked that and it looked ok.

The fuel pump was not starting when I turned the key to position II, so I swapped the fuel pumo relay with another that was the same part and voilla, that did the trick!

The other relay I swapped it with is apparently the 'main relay' so I'd better get a replacement before it causes more trouble, but for today once started, I have not hadany problems.

Hopefully it will start in the morning!

Thanks again for all your help!

Mick

I think the relays in the Felicia are bog standard automotive ones? so you should have no difficulty getting one from Halfrauds or Maplins. 40A SPNO & 30A SPDT Automotive Relay > Maplin I think 12v SPDT is the type needed @£1.96. Check the diagram on the existing relay and compare with the new one, and ensure pin configuration is correct :)

Or there's always the scrappie and misplacing a handful in your pocket option but no doubt other people had that idea first.

if you get really stuck, you should be able to get away wiith using DPDT relay too if the pin confiig is the same, the extra pins make no odds as the terminals aren't connected to anything
