Oh deer

Featured Replies

What a week..

Excuse the pun, I was lucky enough to follow a car over a rather large deer yesterday at about 30mph.. rather large bang as it hit my front splitter but all looks ok.

Driving to work today I see another and have a near miss (alive), think I need to change my pants. What is with all the deer, never seen one down my way before, they are almost as stupid as pheasants.

To top it off some decides to pull out of a junction right in front of me, I was doing around 40mph at the time, I managed to swerve and avoid, lucky nothing was coming the other way.. could of been interesting.

Rant over

There are claims that they work but you can buy a whistle for the front of the car that is supposed to emit the right sound frequency to warn the stupid animals that you are coming.

They are a moulded lump of plastic that has 2 vents in them, as air passes through them they whistle at a frequency above the human range but within a deers range.

I used to have one on the Navara when I worked in the Highlands a lot and couls certainly say that the deer did look towards me as I approached.

I think I could do with one of them :o

Blame the government for the sudden increase in deer numbers.

Being simple minded city folk, they fail to appreciate the importance of population control. Too busy watching Bambi and Watership Down I expect.....

Hope your car is OK. Check for a bloody sump!
