Difficult starting hot engine - Fabia 1.4 8v

Hi Everyone! - can anyone help? Cold starting is no problem, but when engine is hot it struggles to start. The heat/coolant sensor has been replaced twice, but hasn't improved it. It seems a common problem, and I wondered if cleaning the throttle body would do any good? I've never done this before, and would be grateful for any advice on using throttle or carb cleaners. The engine tuning was checked last service by a VW garage, and they thought everything was OK... so do I just accept that this is how my Fabia is supposed to be??? I do like the car, but this does niggle me!

Would be very grateful for your advise and comments. Thanks! :)

Throttle body clean might help, assuming no fault codes are logged. Also worth checking all the vacuum hoses, as they are know to crack with age.

I had this problem - Ross (Lummox) solved it for me. Altho I *think* it was the temp sensor (which yours has had) might be worth checking though as Lissy was a right pain in the backside before he sorted her.

Thanks for that! It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's car suffers from this. Will definitely check the hoses before I look at cleaning the throttle body. Haven't got access to error codes (I assume I need a Vag-com for that... but can't afford one!). When I was in Halfords the other day, one of the lads in there (very helpful, and sensible!) suggested using Wynn's injector cleaner (petrol additive) first, because the lads in the service area said it was the best one for cleaning out rubbish from the carb of older cars. For a few quid I thought it was worth a try just to see if it made any difference... need to do a few miles yet before I can say "yeah" or "nay"! Will let you know what happens.... Cheers! ...and thanks again.
