Felicia tapping on full lock

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me, I took a roundabout a bit too quick and since then there's been a tapping noise when I turn right. It's fine turning left and in a straight line, until you hit 50mph then the steering wheel gets twitchy. I thought it might be the CV joint but this morning I went out and after two or three junctions it was fine, no noise, no twitchiness. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

As no-one's replied yet thought I might offer some basic things to check, which you may well have already considered.

Are tyre pressures at recommended levels? (too high may make the steering randomly twitchy at higher speeds).

Does the car look like it's sitting lower at the front on one side/is there any sign of the spring cups on the suspension strut collapsing.

Also try going slowly in an empty car park with the window open at full lock each way. As you say, full lock and knocking in one direction points to a CV joint.

Hopefully if someone has a better idea what might be up they'll reply soon :)

could be anything

cv joint, ball joints on the bottom arms, even the track rod ends where the thread goes into it (happened to mine and failed an mot)

could be nothin as you say its gone

CV joint is most likey, unless you hit something and bent a wheel.

Or a balance weight on a drive shaft come slightly loose, or a stone got under a disc shield, which would fit with it stopping as suddenly as it started too.

Thank you all for your advice, been down to Mr Clutch today and they couldn't find anything wrong so I guess I'll stop worrying unless it comes back.
