Brake light switch.. works, but.....

Featured Replies

Hi

Had a search in Fab1 and Tech guides but can't find much apart from failing units.

I just wondered if the brake light switch had adjustable sensitivity? Or if its a clip in, clip out only job?

I ask because I'll quite often use a lower gear to slow down a bit before actually braking.. on my last fabia I could just brush the brake pedal and the lights would come on (so people knew I was slowing). you know, that 1st cm where the brakes do nearly nothing but the lights come on?

on my vRS, the brake pedal switch isn't as sensitive and I have to do some braking before the light will come on, over an inch of pedal press.. I've also noticed that towards the and of stopping, as I back my foot off.. the light goes out before I've actually come to a halt even though the brakes are still a tiny bit on..

Any thoughts or is it just the way it is with this Fabia?

Sounds like switch is faulty. Easy fix, the switch just twists out of the mounting. Twist left 90 degrees or 45 degrees depending on type of switch fitted.

Really? A faulty switch even though it works fine.. if just a little un-sensitive?

Guessing you can't adjust it then?

Just swap it for the latest green type one, it needs no adjusting and just fits by twisting it into its carrier. I had 2 go on the sdi

I Guess this thread really was just another "faulty brake light switch"
