How do I change a climate control panel ?

Featured Replies

Hi All.

Firstly, please be gentle with me, as I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post :)

I've just bought a 2000 plate 110 HP Octy1, and to be honest things are not going well. I bought it after rather good experience with a Passat (220k miles, and basically got bored with it). Same engine I though, how can you go wrong ? Well so far the I've had nothing but trouble. After I bought it, noticed some difficulty fastening bonnet, didn't think too much more about it until it opened on the RH lane of the M4 at 75. Whoops:rofl: (not). Anyway, replaced that with a nice shiny one of a different colour, and noticed central locking not working correctly. Stripped door linings etc, and found one window jammed up with a tastful bit of wood. Not nice. Bought more spares from the nice man in Poole (but be careful on the returns policy). Fitted them. Window works OK, but remote locking now not working. Hmmmm, decided to abandon remote locking, but door lock also jammed. Changed (express delivery from Poole again). Now the solonoid that opens the rest of the C/L is all to hell. Off goes the request for MORE spares.

So fairly confident of fixing locking, but lo and behold, the fan is now running intermittently, and the inside of the car is a frigid fog bound hell, with condensation and mist. Now have found back door leaking water into the cabin, and I'm sure that will be a blocked duct or something (any ideas), but the fan is a concern. Reading the threads, most likely to be a dodgy climate control panel. Any ideas how to remove and replace (if htis tale of woe hasn't sent you to sleep) ?

Fantastic Forum though, and people are just so helpful and pleasant. Restores faith in the basic human qualities. Would be sooooo grateful if you could help.:)
