Columbus and Direction Arrows In MaxiDot

Featured Replies

My Maxi Dot does not show the direction arrows from my Columbus unit.

The Maxi Dot shows MFD when the ignition is turned on, also there is no radio station info displayed on Maxi Dot.

I have been told it is all turned on. How would I check this? I can not see any settings to set in the Maxi Dot read out when using the righthand stalk.

With my old MFD2 I have 'Audio' and 'Navigation' options in the maxidot setup menu. Also, when a destination is set, the maxidot goes to the navigation mode automatically. I would assume the Columbus is very similar if not the same.

Could be a coding issue meaning the maxidot is not 'seeing' the nav unit perhaps.

Is it a factory-fitted Columbus unit, or have you retro-fitted it? If the former I'd just take it back to the dealer if it's not working like it's meant to as I'd guess its still within warranty right?

Your Columbus is Retrofit - I'll wager it's not been coded,

As Stu says..mine shows the arrow, and displays cd's and radio stations..take it back, and get them to code it

The only other thing I can think of it it's a 3T model.

Yes it is a retro fit unit, what do I need to do to get it coded?

I think Nilash at Autotronics in Leicester will do the Code because he would like to know why the unit does not show in the MaxiDot even though MFD appears.

The above fitted my unit and can't understand why it does not work, he has fitted quite a few VW units and they all work fine.

How do I find what model number I have?

How do I find what model number I have?

Either from the label on it or with VCDS/VAS.

If you bought it on eBay the part number may be in the listing.

The initials MFD that appear on the maxidot at the top sometimes, eg. when opening a door for example are nothing to do with the columbus. In this case the text "MFD" stands for "Multi Function Display" and would have been present before the Columbus was fitted.

If the Columbus is communicating with the maxidot correctly, then you should see (on the main menu) on the maxidot "Radio" and "Navigation".

If the Unit is a 3T model, then its one from the Superb 2 rather than an octavia one, and there are a number of compaitibilty problems that I believe can be coded out.

I purchased it from a guy called Sarj in Leicester, UV Worldwide who was recomended by a Briskoda (Auditek) user.

If I can point Nilash (Autotronics) in the right direction (no pun) he should be able to code it, but at this moment in time he is not sure.

Any help or guidance on what to look for or should I try my Skoda dealer?

If the guy has VCDS and knows how to use it then it will, to a certain extent, lead him through it.

My guess is the Gateway 19 has not been coded for 37 Navigation.

You said in a pm to me that they fitted a new GPS receiver...could that possibly be a VW one, and not compatible with Skoda maxidot? I don't know, but perhaps worth asking...have you got the display working for radio/music yet ?

The GPS part of it is just an antenna.

The unit works fine, music on the hard drive, Navigation, TMC etc...

The MaxiDot does not see the Columbus unit at all. It's no great deal just a small niggle.

The latest version of software is on its way just to confirm that I have V3.

I think this will erase some stuff on the HD.

Auditek do you have V3? Can you enter Post Codes?

Do you mean you are going to upgrade the firmware?

V3 maps are the latest available I think.

I don't know, I think the maps. I am being supplied the upgrade to V3 DVD.

V3 Maps will allow you to enter UK postcodes.

Yes, i have the v3...i'm just starting to wonder why nothing displays on your maxidot..i don't mean to sound stupid, but are you sure you have maxidot..the 'half display'looks similar, but doesn't do all the tricks...

if he has MFD as a menu in it then it's surely maxidot.

Good point..i've read the original post again...are you changing the mfd display, to show nav/radio etc?
