Fitting an iPod Connect 2 to Symphony

Featured Replies

Hi folks

I'm afraid I'm a real dummy when it comes to ICE despite trawling through these excellent forums! I basically want to connect my iPod Classic to my Skoda Fabia 2006 with Symphony CD player. No CD changer that I'm aware of!

I believe a Connect2 interface is a good option BUT sadly, I'm a bit thick when it comes to what cables go where! The man at Skoda said it "couldn't be done". I've been using an FM receiver but it's pretty gruesome sound-wise.

I have the keys to remove the HU and have attached pics below, and as far as I'm aware, there is no CD changer with my model - can someone please PM or post an "idiot's guide to installation" i.e. what the wires are - and what should go where! My intention was to come bring the cable through the plastic recess under the HU.

Thanks in anticipation!

It didn't help that I popped into Halfords today and a spotty oik told me I had to buy an HU and it couldn't be done. Doesn't sound right to me - any thoughts?

I have connected up a standard connect2 (3.5mm input not the ipod one) and all it required was pluging into one of the mini iso sockets (the row above the large brown iso connector you have in your pic) Think it goes in the right hadside as your picture is, although it will only fit in one of them. Then you just have to attach the earth cable somewhere, i wrapped mine around the thread the rubber stopper is on. job done!

PM me if you need any more help!

Now has hard-wired iPod loveliness in his car! Thank you SOOOO much guys for the great advice. The most difficult part was actually finding a gap for the little interface box!

I ended up drilling a hall through the back of the dash tray so I can poke the cables through cleanly. Now to look for a nice little holder.

Did you go the Connects2 route then?

I have a simple Mini ISO to 3.5mm plug:

I can see where the blue plug goes, it is as per the pic above. Will this work on it's own ƒor simple audio connection, or do I have to go ƒór the more expensive Connects2 route. Tried but does not seem tom work. Also, this does not have an earth. Any hints to get this to work?
