Superpro or Powerflex?

Featured Replies

My bushes are on the way out on the front wishbones (octy Vrs Mk1) and rather than put the same dodgy skoda ones back in I am thinking of going down the polybush route.

Looking on the Briskoda site it seems like the 2 options are Powerflex or Superpro. A quick hunt on the web shows that loads of sites sell the Powerflex and only a couple sell Superpro. So, I was all up for going the Powerflex route, however, there seem to be reviews on here that they pop out of place. Not good! So I'm guessing Superpro are the way to go?

Anyone reckon I should still go for Powerflex?

Also, what's the verdict on DIY fitting of all bushes on front wishbones and the ones on the rear suspension? Is it relatively simple, or should I just get a garage to do the lot?

I think the general concensus is that superpro are better made than the powerflex ones hence the reason I opted for them.

Wishbone bushes are quite easy to fit but you do need to get new bolts for the wishbones and balljoints. Rear beam bushes can be difficult apparantly and some say they are far too firm for comfort.

Also another option for the front wishbone which is considerably cheaper is to use the solid rubber Audi TT bush. You don't really need the smaller (Front) bush on the wishbone replacing as it is solid and doesn't tend to wear out.

:iagree:

Can't remember seeing a problem with the SuperPro bushes. I have seen PowerFlex wishbone bushes pop out.

I would give PF a wide birth

Are powerflex 2 piece bushes?

Aye, they sure are :(

Thats why they do it then. Always thought they where 1 piece like the superpro but with different lips on them. That is shocking :dung:

Not sure because the otherside was fine.

It too do with the sided arm imo this side is fine because the big lip is underneath, the first picture its on top so there nothing holding it in, If you understand my retard way of explaining it.

Cheers guys. It seems pretty clear which I should opt for! Will be a month or so 'till I can get them done, but once I'm sorted I'll post a message on here to let you know how I got on.

Yes that made perfect sense. I think because the superpro's are 1 piece and also symetrical in shape is why they don't suffer this.

I still think if I hade to do that particular bush again I would go with the solid Audi one as cost wise it's a no brainer.....like me :P

I reckon there is a bit of bad luck involved there too though, never had problems with the Powerflex ones in the application I used.

It's not just me WW

The mk4 sided arms world is a light with cries of "My effing bush has popped out again"

Well not quite as bad as that but theres a few who have had problems.

Hmm that sucks :( - the ones used on the Fab vRS never went wrong, they were on for about 50-60k IIRC, but admittedly those are held in differently, and probably wouldnt split even if in two parts.

Popping out of a bush prematurely is never good though :( ;)

Hmmm had something similar happen to me last night....:nervous:

Too much information :o :P - trim it down perhaps?

arnt superpro better priced?

i went superPRO. if you look i think they are better and seen as ppl are havin trouble with the powerflex........

the only powerflex bush I got is the dogbone mount. again it was cheaper and easier as they only did one where superPRO do a few diff versions depending on the stiffness.

oh get the ARB bushes too. 19mm for the vRS. might as well do them at the same time.
