At long last...

I have managed to find someone interested in swapping my Cosworth Sierra for a Skoda Octavia VRS, feeling a bit worried at the moment as think I am going to miss the Cosworth bad, really wish I could have both but can't afford it. Can someone point me in the right direction of what to look out for when buying a VRS, my car valued at 4k, Skoda VRS 4k, it is totally mint (or so Iam told) with FSH, but high mileage 99K its a black 03 plate, with a remap to 228bhp, and stainless exhaust and K and N. I think it might be a bit over priced 2bh but my Cosworth needs a service, cam belt and new diff £100 at least.

On the plus side if I buy it I will be modifing it as I can't help myself, and have already seen a front mount intercooler I like.

What's the best mods for the VRS?

Any help/advice apreciated

Si

if its at 228 you wont get much more without going down the big turbo road so the only mods worth doing are suspension mate to behonest,, it is very overpriced with that milage mate:eek:

What price would you put on it then, I did think that...

Without dyno proof you may find that 228 bhp is a little of being accurate, typically these VRS's on standard KO3s turbo get approx 215 to 220 and with most mods done and a remap. The value depends on the condition as a number of VRS have gone cheaper between £2800 and £4000. With a number of mods maybe nearer the £4000. Mileage is typically the one to bring the price down. Then is £4000 a reasonable price for your cosy. What year and condition is that in. I guess as long as you way of both value of car and you are happy then that all that counts.

See if you can get it a bit cheaper or get more money for your Cossie, as others have said (if the dyno graphs are correct) you are already near the most you will get out of the Octy without going to a bigger turbo, then you are looking at big money - probably a few grand to go up to a K04 or for a 300bhp+ turbo and engine built to cope with it at least 10 grand

Sierra? Is it a 3dr of Sapphire Cosworth? You are better selling the cossie privately. What condition is it in? Mileage? 2 or 4wd? Standard or modded?

It might be worth considering doing the service and replacing the diff.

And, if a 3-door, an ordinary one or a 500?

I had a 310 brake 4x4 sapphire cossy before my Octy Vrs and don't regret the change at all, o.k sometimes I miss having a proper 300+bhp blat but on the other hand I don't miss the sub 10mpg.

Another advantage is you can park the Octy pretty much anywhere without the fear of some lowlife scumbag either trying to steal it or vandalise it.

I sold my Sapp as I was going to be working in Iraq for a while, but before I went I looked around at what I was going to replace it with (budget of £12k) and narrowed it down to 3 cars, an Evo 6, a U.K spec Scooby or the Octy Vrs.

The Evo has silly and expensive 4000 mile service intervals, so no.

The Scooby just didn't do it for me and everybody had one (at the time) so no, which only left the Vrs, and after driving a couple my mind was made up.

You won't regret it.

I must be lucky,i have a sapphire cossy and a vrs.Sorry would i wouldnt part with my old ford for my skoda but my vrs is a superb car but a little boring, cant say that for my saph:thumbup: [skoda wins hands down for reliability and economy though]

And you still get parts for the Skoda! One of the reason I got rid of my Saph was because of parts problems and the silly prices as soon as you mentioned 'Cosworth'.

Still miss it though, one hell of a car and could keep up with many a modern super saloon.

That's a nice Saph, unusual with the skirts. Surprised it's not gone.

The sideskirts are from the Rouse Cosworth limited edition, they were purchased by the previous owner, they have grown on me, and at least the jacking point covers dont keep falling off and the skirt stays solid.

Thanks

You pm,ed me on passionford about this when i had my skoda vrs for sale on there:thumbup:I would have thought this would have gone by now

Down the Forest, that's where my Cossy came from. I bought it from Lee Read (Cinderford), sadly 6 weeks before he was killed in an RTA.
