door control unit

Featured Replies

if my Octy door controller has gone, I.E. interior lights not coming on and light warning bong,(dry solder joints?) does that control the fuel pump priming as well?

No. The door controller doesn't have anything to do with the fuel pump

so what causes the fuel pump to prime when you get in the car? is it off the central locking?

No - not the central locking either. On a petrol the lift pump is enabled when you turn the ignition on. Most diesels don't have a lift pump. The injection pump is driven by the cambelt.

Do you have a problem?

I have a problem with LPG system which seems like a lack of pressure in the system at the start of the day (after depressurising overnight) after it clears it is fine all day. We have been through the process of eliminating the cold as the cause, and the gas pressure is all OK on the diagnostics its just this first start in the day. I seem to remember that when I first had the car the fuel system used to make the whiring noise described elsewhere on the forums on opening the drivers door. I seem to remember the fitter saying that the gas system uses this signal to prime itself as well, the petrol system also does it on turning on the ignition if the pressure has dropped(if you have sat in the car for a while) but I dont think the LPG uses this 2nd signal as well. I had a fiddle about with my door lock in work and managed to get my door lights to come on and I got the whiring noise again, so I will test it tommorrow (if I remember). If it works I guess I'll be stripping my door lock on the weekend. :-(

OK, update. on getting into the car this morning I wiggled the lock mech to make the door lights come on. this in turn meant that I could hear the fuel system priming. Lo and behold the LPG switched over just fine.... RESULT :D just means that I'll be stripping the damn thing this weekend in the sub zero temps.

So for anyone with LPG running problems keep a check on the door mech. (door light, interior lights, headlight warning buzzer - all not working)

There is something wrong here. My guess is this is something peculiar to your conversion. I would be surprised if it is meant to work like that.

What if you just come back to the car to put some shopping in?

I would ask the company that did the conversion, if it is surposed to work like this.

so what causes the fuel pump to prime when you get in the car? is it off the central locking?

That is a good question

Surely it doesn't matter, cos as soon as you turn the ignition on it will prime anyway. Just give it a second to prime if you have to. What if you've been sat in the car waiting for someone with the engine off, then start it without having opened the door?

My 'door open' switch sounds as dippy as yours. Works about 60% of the time, but doesn't bother me. Try blasting your lock with WD40, works for me.

It doesn't matter lol

I just wondered what triggered the fuel pump if it wasn't the door mech/lock ???

it must be the door lock mech as when the car is stone cold after an overnight stay on the drive, if i open the door it is silent but as soon as I wiggle the lock and the door light comes on the fuel pump primes. I dont think the gas system is looking for the second priming it is just taking the signal from the door mech. SO thats my job for tonight and tommorrow, combined with stripping the turbo to IC pipes to find the leak and I just as well clean the IC while I have half the car in bits.....its gona be a long weekend :D
