Hi everybody.

Im driving a 2002 VRS Octavia and have few minor requests if any help please.

The car has been well maintained by previous owners (ex cumbria constabulary) but i do find that it idles erractically when stationary in traffic. The pick up from start can also be very jumpy when cold.Any ideas???

Im aint too clever with d-i-y repairs and with the credit crunch(and snow) affecting all of us im reluctant to take to a main dealers due to cost.

I would be gratefull if anybody can advise me further as to sort out the poor running and hopefully feel the true quality of the VRS.

Many thanks Fest.

Describe 'Jumpy'. Do you mean it has a flat spot?

im new to the forms too. hi all

They are always jumpy from the start if you try and drive off straight away. They have a secondary air pump which needs a minute or two to run first. Wait for the revs to drop from just over 1000 to just under 1000 and then pull away - it shouldn't jump at all.

As for the dodgy idling, post in the Octavia I forum for more help. My first guess would be the throttle body needs a clean, especially if plod put a few miles on it. It's a 30 minute job and will cost you the price of a new gasket (a few quid) and a can of cleaner spray.

Welcome to Briskoda by the way

Thanks for the response.

The jumping i can describe is Kangaroo style.

Also i do notice that it gradually gets worse when i dont put any fuel in for a few days. When i do fill up again it clears itself and then returns.???

Could be fuel pump or injectors then... best to post on the Octavia I forum, they will be able to help better on there.

welcome
