Double Din Installation

Featured Replies

Hi i was wondering if anyone had install a double din radio unit into their furby.

I recently bought a double din unit and tried to install it. Mines the 1.4 2000 model.

I manage to fit it in after taking out both the cd player and the tray, It even had a hole at the back positioned exatly for the gps attena to plug in, but no luck.

You can only secure it in on one side. Thought about puting a screw in the other side. Before i tried to fit the dash back in but i wouldn't fit!! Big problem.

Has anyone got any advice.

Yes, it's been done. Take a look in the ICE section.

I know of a few people with them fitted, the Pioneer AVIC-D3 for example.

You might be having a problem with all your wiring not being cleared out of the way enough, for the unit to clip in properly. I've found that taking the glovebox out while doing such installs allows you to reach round and re-locate wiring as you try to fit the HU into place.

Thanks for that Steve.

Im trying to put a single DIN cd player in and couldn't clear the wiring.

Didn't think about taking the glove box out though, nice one

Some aftermarket stuff can be a really tight squeeze, especially with an ISO adaptor loom etc. The glovebox comes out pretty easily, torx screws round the bottom and a couple inside IIRC. Remember to disconnect the AC feed for the refrigeration (if fitted) and the wiring for the light, before dropping it down.

Also taking out the main central vents can help to let you in from above and tidy stuff away. A bit more fiddly, but worth bearing in mind too.

you will probably need a double din fitting plate, should slot into the gap left and the stereo will fit securely into that.
