Fancy a Porsche Lorry?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

It seems that Porsche are at it again :

Porsche Offer for Scania 'May Succeed'

'Porsche stated it had no strategic interest in the lorry manufacturer it made the minimum offer possible. But Scania’s share prices have now dropped below the mandatory offer and analysts believe that shareholders would be likely to tender their shares, cementing Porsche's €2.8bn takeover offer for Scania.'

Minimum Offer .

Many thanks,

Rob

They were forced to do it by law as they owned enough of the country they had to tender a bid for take over.

I thought there was already a Porsche lorry, called the Cayenne?

So lemme get this right... VW were already the biggest shareholder in Scania, but as Porsche are buying VW, Porsche are now forced by Swedish law to make an offer to take over Scania as well?

Not sure of the exact ins and outs, just that as Porsche owned enough shares one way or the other they had to do it.

Wouldn't they just end up telling VW to sell Scania?? I'm sure Iveco would be interested.

Don't have that option, under the countries law, once you own a certain percentage of the shares you have to tender a take over bid.

They now own enough of those they have to make an offer to buy up all existing shares, there is even a legal minimum bid.

It's kinda strange as over here, you just have the option to buy the rest of the shares outright once you own a certain percentage. Over it appears you have to make an offer to the remaining shareholders to buy their shares.
