Symphony mp3 compatibility

Featured Replies

Quick question chaps. Does the octy vrs symphony cd changer and head unit support mp3 cd's? thanks

Don't think it does.

No, neither units do.

There is an mp3 version of the Symphony CD unit that was available in the Superb. I got one from eBay a few weeks ago for my Octy.

Thanks all, looks like a new head unit then. @ SimonJ, how much did you get the head unit for?

Got the headunit for £50 delivered. Got the code for it free of charge from local dealer though.

Yeah I've seen them but would like something more permanent.... thinking of maybe a usb headunit.

Just out of interest, can you still plug the standard autochanger into the back of these, and control it from the headunit?

Yes you can, still have my CD changer working with it in my car.

The only difference is that the headunit plays mp3 files as well. It does not display id3 tags though.

but does the normal cd changer handle mp3 CDs? as isn't it the cd changer that does the decoding?

so you get 6 normal CDs (15 tracks ish) and then you can put an MP3 CD in the front of the car only? (250 ish songs)

CD changer will only play normal audio CDs. Only the headunit can play MP3s as well.
