Wet boot carpet on Octavia II Hatch

Featured Replies

Hi, we have just found we have a wet carpet in our boot of Mk2 Oct hatch. We noticed only noticed yesterday when it soaked up into the shopping. We had noticed this problem before and taken it to our local dealer who informed us it was due to bad fitment of rear parking sensors? Which I'm now wondering if was correct?

Has anyone else experience this or has ideas to check?

Does your rear wash wipe work ok? If not it could be this leaking into your carpet when is use.

Yes it seems too work fine, although I'm honestly not sure how powerful the water jet should be.

If it was that would you expect the damp to be nearer the seats or the end of the car?

Put talcum powder around where you think it leaks. In the morning it should show up where the water comes from.

A cleaner option would probably be Kitchen Roll or newspaper.

Hi

I have just bought an 06 Reg Occy from a main dealer and it had the same problem. They looked at it under warranty and found the problem being a loose pipe on the rear washer system.

All sorted now (hopefully) and good luck with your rectification too :D

Thanks, had a closer look tonight - seems to be right hand side mostly however difficult to tell in this weather. Put some newspaper in to try and establish location.

Would the rear wash leak into the back of the boot near the seats?

Wouldn't this leave a soggy mess? Presume would need to be totally dry first?

It's a forum not a mobile phone!!

Sorry m8, I was in a rush. thx

I know I've said this elsewhere, but I have a problem with excess water just running into the boot when I open the lid - seems like the gullies and water channels in the boot lid aren't terribly well designed. I know it sounds obvious, but sometimes things are...

While I'm on, has anybody got a cure for this problem on the hatch?!?

You're not funny.

For the members who find it difficult to read (as I do), here's a translation;

"Yes mate. It would need to be dry first."

Do you park facing downhill?

If so I think you will find that any standing water will pour into the boot as soon as you open it.

I ended up getting an estate (no regrets) to get round this problem as my drive is fairly steep.

The mk1 hatch also had this feature, the only option is ....

to open the boot a small amount to let the water drain off, before opening it fully.

If you look at the shape of the bottom of the rear window,

any water in the channel under it, drains as you lift the boot lid.

Sod's law dictates that day that you're rushing and lift it straight up,

is the day that your boot is full of items you'd prefer to keep dry.

cheers ... Darren

By the way, what do you call a Skoda full of food?
