Mudflaps

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted the factory mudflaps , is mud spraying up the side of the car as much of an issue on the Superb as it is on the Octy 2??

I've got them, but I only picked the car up yesterday afternoon, so it's too early to tell yet.

cheers , any pics of them on??

Have the mud flaps fitted. The New Superb gets more dirty along the sides than the old one but I guess they protect the the door sills from stones and road grit, I hope.

I've a set of mudflaps on order, however, given their modest dimensions I think they'll offer minimal protection.

Incidentally, the facelifted Octy II has more rounded rear mudflaps (fitted as standard) than the outgoing model. Why change a design that works for one that is inferior?

Unfortunately that seems to be the case for a few things: seats (Mk1 seats were bigger, better shaped and had more padding for comfort - these ones are physically smaller than the Octavia Elegance seats), lockable rear seats, mudflaps, chip-protection around the wheel arches, sunglasses holder, size of the glove compartment, internal boot-opening button, 'additional boot lock'. I haven't lifted the bonnet yet. What it suffers from is 'skimping on costs' and no doubt 'some' people in the design or management team trying to make a name for themselves rather than putting the customer first.

OK, Richf, these front and rear mudflap pictures are especially for you:

They're fitted by the dealer, not during manufacture. :)

I had some of those kind of valve caps on my old SEAT Toledo, one word of advice - put some grease on the thread of the valve stem, as salt corrodes them and they stick and you cannot get them off without pliers, which wrecks them. But they do look good!

Thanks a lot for that - I'll smear them in the morning. :)

i would get them fitted by the dealer during PDI. I bought some for my passat and you have to take the rear wheels of to fit them ! I am sure you dont mind paying a little extra on top of the severla thousand pounds you are paying for your new car !!! :)

You won't have to worry there, the flaps should fit to plasic arch liners, and the holding plugs should seal it all up tight, no harm in using a drop of sealant round them as well, but you won't be drilling metal, hth.
