Hi Guys this is my first post here and i am looking for some help.

I have a Oct 07 Superb elegance and i am a taxi driver. Now in my car i have a double din head unit which is my radio / cd player/ Sat Nav the cd player is connected to a 6 disc multi changer. I dont have any other info on this ie model number all it says is SkodaAuto i cant even find a picture on the net to show you :p anyway

I had a bad customer in my car this morning who throw coins from the back seat at me and done a runner out of my car. Thing is the coins struck my head unit and smashed the large lcd screen.

I phone skoka and they tell me a new one is £1616.00 and they dont do replacement parts. i was wondering if anyone has had the same sort of problem and maybe had there unit screen replaced or know where i can get a cheaper one as i can no way afford £1616.00 and thought these would only have been maybe a few hundred at most.

Is there any large skoda breakers in the uk?

I live in Northern Ireland but have friends all around the uk who could help me.

I could maybe claim of my insurance but my insurance is already expensive and will only go down this road maybe as a last resort.

i could maybe buy just a normal dd head unit without sat nav but would need one that i can use my steering wheel controls.

This is maybe a shot in the dark but i hope someone can help

sounds like its a mfd2 that you,ve got. theres one for sale for £200 in the classified section mate.

Finaly found a picture of one like mine

is this an MFD2 ? and is there different versions ? i have the maps for 2008 in mine but i know thats only the cd so is mine still an MFD2

I seems to have conflicks here

I am being told that infact my Unit is an MFD-A Others are saying its an MFD1

I am totally lost now as the one for sale on the classified ad's isnt the same as mine as his looks like this

This is an MFD, MFD1, or MFD-A they are all the same thing. The MFD2 will not fit into the mk1 superb. Other forum members have bought sat navs on ebay from naviandbmwparts and feedback has been positive. If you search on 'naviandbmwparts' you will find their comments.

Think i might have finaly tracked a nd hand one down i am going to dublin to collect it but never mind :p

Can anyone tell me what i would need to have this unit work as a TV ? or can this not be done in the UK ?

i know i need some sort of tuner and ariel any idea's what i need ?

I dont think you can get it to work as a TV, only a DVD player.

Getting it to work as a DVD player would be ok so what would i need ?

Also i have seen some things on ebay that say it can be turned into a TV but maybe i am wrong but it also says in the manual that it can be a TV but when i phoned skoda they told me that they didnt sell a UK tuner for this one.
