Does the RNS-510 sound better?

Featured Replies

Hi all! I was just wondering if the RNS-510 radio option improves sound quality over the stock Swing(?) radio (which to be honest sounded like ****).

Edit: Sorry, I meant the RCD-510/Bolero.

The RNS510 sound is excellent.

Okay, so assume you mean better than the stock Swing radio, since it sounded like crap. :D

Edit: Sorry! I meant the RCD-510. It's called Bolero at least in the Finnish Skoda price/option list, but VW calls it the RCD-510. The unit looks a lot like the RNS-510, but naturally with a couple buttons less.

Whats a Swing? Either way I would say a Columbus is a better sound.

I can only speak for the navigationsystems. Had a Nexus, a MFD²DVD and now a RNS510.

Soundquality Nexus +/-

Soundquality MFD² ++

Soundquality RNS +++

My humble opinion.

The Swing is Skoda's version of VW's RCD-310.

Looks otherwise like this, but with a negative display and at least IMO sounds worse.

So can anyone say if the RCD-510/Bolero compares to the RNS-510/Columbus sound quality wise (or better yet, if their amp & speakers are the same)?

I can't really comment regarding RCD-510 and RNS-510.

I would also like to add that I had the OEM speakers replaced which sounded better than the current 10 speaker effort in my Golf.
