Can't find 4x4 rear shocks for my octy?!

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I cannot seem to find rear shocks for my 4x4 ( hatchback). I'm currentley running with Koni sport front ones and stock rear. I have taken previous advice have have got H & R springs all round due to the incresed weight.

Koni only seem to specify 4x4 on their front shoks?

So the question is can I use Koni sport rears even though they do not specify 4x4? or do I need beefed up ones due to the incresed weight of the rear axle?

Awaiting your ever usefull advice! & thank you in advance....................

Have a chat with Sarah at Awesome, she will gladly relieve you of some cash  & supply you with the best replacement parts.

there are very few people (if any) who make uprated shocks for the 4x4.

A couple of guys on here have used shocks from other models (like a golf) however they are not 100% correctly weighted to the car so not sure how your insurance would view this (assuming you declare) and that you yourself are happy to run incorrect shocks.

You can get rear shocks in a coilover format more easily from people like kw.

I had H&R springs on my 4x4 with standard shocks which was an improvement but not right, i just couldnt find any shocks that i could put on (other than as mentioned above which i didnt want to do).

My friends 4x4 has kw v3s which are awesome, and WILL transform your 4x4 (with some uprated anti roll bars to boot) however these cost a LOT more than the standard spring and shock set up!

Good luck!

Have a look at KW1's, I think Wayne Kerr on here has them fitted to his car, give him a PM for advice.

Hi,

I have been running my 4x4 on AP Coilovers for over 2 months supplied and fitted by awesome they cost a lot less than KW but have had massive improvements on the handling of my car I would definately recommend these as an option
