Hu Query

Hi Folks

Im just looking for an opinion/help was thinking about changing head unit in my 06 vrs first thought was mfd2 or similiar aftermarket unit .

Now thinking about a single din motorised unit with dvd /sat nav/ ipod control/ touch screen with the idea if i sell the car i can take it to the next car.

Was just wondering if anybody has done this swap from double to single din and were there any probs .

And also what aftermarket units have been fitted and what parts required for dash to mount same.

Thanks and once again i look forward to read all the views from out there.

Regards Whoosh:thumbup:

You can buy an adaptor kit from Skoda to give you single DIN.

Only problem is that it comes in black, so will need spraying if you want to keep the vRS look.

Then you'll need a can bus to ISO lead adaptor, again from Skoda.

These give by far the best looking and easiest to work with optiions.

I have done it and can post pics up later tonight if needed.

Dont get the autoleads facia kit. it looks poor in comparision to the skoda kit as the skoda one looks like is should have been there. The skoda kit also comes with all the required wiring adaptors unlike the autleads one.

What you will have at the end of it though is a huge lump of dash with a tiny headunit fitted, and a flip out screen that blocks the centre vents. The octavia dash looks far better with a double din HU fitted.

I looked at all the options and splashed out on an MFD3, which looks superb. Yes its expensive, but it can do a lot of stuff.
