Caliper paint?

Featured Replies

Hi guys need some help just finshing re- conditioning my wheels and re-spraying them black on closer inspection my calipers look terrible so need to touch them up. Has anyone done this? Is it a paint brush or spray job?

Also more importantly where do you get the paint from i'm guessing it would have to be caliper paint all I can find is red, yellow, blue or black

look forward to your replies

cheers:thumbup:

Hammerite Smooth Green from Halfords.

I brushed it on.

No problems.

Hi, Hammerite Smooth Light Green is a favourite by most on here and it's a near perfect match! I believe they have stopped making it now so you need to get hold of some fast. I searched 2 different DIY stores for it with no luck then there it was in Halfords and was the last tin they had of it.

I've used hammerite before but always seems soft and never seems to harden. Also scratches very easy.

I switched to red and used the Foliatech kit, its expensive at almost £30 but its enough for the all the calipers (front and back) and the front carriers. In the kit you get the paint (tin for use with brush), tin of hardener (to mix with paint) and a spray can of brake cleaner. Once done it gives a good gloss and appears super hard and slaps on easy enough. Unfortunately I think the green is miles off the factory Skoda colour though.

Im thinking about going yellow now had them painted gloss black using hammerite (not had any problems with it)

LittleBull, I think yellow would be a strong look on your car!

i did it, without any problems,

i've done my friends car with high temperature platinum paint, thats all you need is stuff thats rated for higher temperatures but to be honest any paint would do the job just as well.

Unfortunately I think the green is miles off the factory Skoda colour though.

Agreed...I have luminous green calipers as a result

Not for much longer though
