faulty speed sensor

Featured Replies

took my car in today as the engine management light was on and was diagnosed with a faulty speed sensor. engine was vibrating when stationary and just feeling very lumpy and not performing well anyone else had this thing happen?

Hiya Nat,

This has happened to me too.

The only thing was that i was on the A 55 @ 80ish and all the dial dropped down to zero, But i was still moving ... soon to be followed by thea same diagnosis as yourself. Promptly followed by a nice AA man and a tow truck back to the dealers..

No big deal really but stiil a touch strange doing 80 and your speedo says 0, revs say 0 fuel and temp =0..

does anybody know where the speed sensor is located on a 1.8t?

also just to let you know had the h type coilpacks replaced when the car was in this morning with the L type

The crank speed sensor is at the front of the block just next to the bellhousing of the gearbox. You cant see much of it, just a plastic sensor usually held in with a 10mm bolt.
