The gearbox on my Fabia VRS decide to sieze up the other day that is to say I couldn't select any gears - selecting sixth gear had been a little difficult for a couple of days prior to the failure. Tried everything no luck so dropped the box out - nice job as it entailed removing the botton suspension mount. Anyway I had nothing to lose so decided to strip the box in half. The mild steel right angled piece has become detached from the phosphor bronze selector fork, it looks like the rivet has snapped. I've managed to get another selector fork from the local garage £48.00, what I need to know is how to strip the rest of the box down, I've checked the Haines manual but there are no details. Does anyone have an electronic version of the workshop manual?

It is the same for the majority of VAG cars

So if you find one for another car , it may fit

They do look the same on the outside but you would have to make sure the gear ratios are the same.

Thanks for the information folks, I checked the site above and downloaded all of the gearbox pdf files, unfortunately none of them refer to the 6 speed 02M box and it is sufficiently different from the other later 6 speed box to make a difference especially in the way it is stripped down - the earlier box does not have the rubber cover plate which allows access to the circlip allowing removal of the mainshaft. Any other suggestions where I might find a manual?
