Well not quiet

Im going to start looking at using my bro and dads 350d slr.. ive seen mayshots using some addon/affect which gives a bulge affect (ie in the centre looks bigger)

How is this done? is this done via an filter?

Im used to using the main point and squirt methods, but time to start getting more in to it i think

To get that effect you can either apply it to a normal photograph in Photoshop or you can spend many £££ on buying a fisheye lens that will let you take the photo like that. Obviously the lens is better for quality, composition and less post-production, but will also be a lot more expensive.

there is a company called opteka which makes screw thread fisheye adaptors.

basicly its a fisheye lens that screws on the thread on the end of your lens. the angle the fisheye gives you depends on what lens you have. i have two a 52mm thread one for my original standard 18-55 lens for my 400D and a 30mm one for my video camera.

the 52mm one on my 18-55 goes from full on fisheye at 18mm to wideangle at 55.

on the digi video cam tho it only makes the camera wideangle, because its not specifically built for that camera (its just a 30mm thread) and the lens in the videocam is recessed quite abit.

i got it throu ebay as nobody seems to sell them over here (that i could find at the time of buying)

altho i bought that one from a friend for a score! (20 quid)

you can get hold of them from anywhere around 20 to 80 odd quid. definatly alot cheaper than a 600 quid canon or sigma fisheye but dont expect the photo quality to be the same.
