Yes I too know this!!! What a buggar, but I see other "bits" sets now include M14 sizes - but still not spline sets (so I've had my spine set for about 20 years and when I really need to use it - life lets me down!) - I bought my M14 spline bit (that is not how it is described though - just remember its 12 fluted) online - "justoffbase" I think - Jack Sealey Tools maybe. Seems like not many places stock things like individual spline bits any more - which is pants when you only need it NOW!!

Actually VAG parts list reckons that it is a TORX headed bolt - and as you have discovered, that is not true.

Some people reckon that the head is chunky enough to grab with molegrips etc though.

Just in case you are still trying to source of of these bits, they are officially known as XZN Spline Bit Socket M14. The Justoffbase item number is AK5531 - but they tend to charge quite a bit for postage - so total cost back in January 2007 was £17.69! (unit price was £9.75 inc vat).

I done mine with a Torx T55 or T60 bit out a halfords tool set. Done the job just as good :)
