New 1.6 TDI CR 77kw for Octavia

Featured Replies

Skoda Auto have officially announced this new engine for Octavia. They will show it at the forthcoming Geneva car show in the Greenline model of Octavia. This should have 5 speed manual gearbox, but towards the end of the year a combination with DSG and 4x4 6 speed manual should be available too.

That's the 1.9 PD105 gone then.

Should hopefully be a big improvement in refinement and fingers crossed economy as the weight will hopefully have reduced too.

About time they did that, so the question now remains what happens regarding the PD140, is that a tuned 1.6 or a complete replace with a CR140?

Nice low 116g/km rating for the VED band too :)

Great news! This is the engine that will produce only 99 g/km in the new golf eco car due for release in June.

This engine (105 bhp) would be a better CR choice in the facelifted Octavia 4x4 than the 110 bhp version of the 2.0 litre. I must admit that while I love my Scout it is starting to look a bit expensive and I couldn't justify buying one now for both price and emissions reasons. When I replace it in 2 years time I would happily go for the standard 4x4 estate with this 1.6 engine.

I must admit that when I read about this new engine I doubted that Skoda would get its hands on it quite so quickly.

Sucks they've missed 110g/km so no 100% corporation tax write-down. Golf Bluemotion 1 with that engine is supposed to be 99g/km so 100% corporation tax write-down and no RFL at all. The interesting one will be the Bluemotion 2. If that comes in at 110g/km or under with decent equipment level, that'll be my next car. Not meant to be out until the end of the year though :( .

I expect that to be the Golf's USP and I don't expect SEAT or Skoda to get a look-in at 99g/km family motoring and to be fair the current Octy is also a bit of a heffer on the scales.

Do you think the DSG box could bring the emissions down below 110g?

Do you think the DSG box could bring the emissions down below 110g?

I suspect only if it was going to be 7 speed.

The torque limit for the 7speed dry DSG is 250NM if I remember correctly. The 1.6 CR TDI 105bhp puts out peak 184lbs/ft of torque, which is 250NM, so I guess it could be possible. If the DSG improvement was as much as on the 1.8TSI with, they should be able to squeeze it into 110g/km. Would make a killer company car that. Skoda - please take note!

EDIT - I forgot of course that the standard greenline octavia will have longer ratios on the manual, so the DSG probably wouldn't buy enough extra economy to take it down to 110g/km. Maybe with a different engine map?

I think this would be a GREAT car, DSG 7 would make it outstanding!

Hi,

I have just ordered the Seat Ibiza Sports Coupe 1.6 TDi CR for delivery on 1st Sept for 'er indoors. I think this is the first UK model to have the 104bhp version. Some stealers quoted my 18 weeks delivery when trying to sell me the tractor sounding Ecomotive 1.4 TDi, others are suggesting that they will not have a demo car until end Sept.

The figures look great but I have to be honest, I have bought it without a test drive... I will let you know how it drives when I know!

I don't know if it will tempt me away from my beloved Octy II vRS, which has been through 45k hard miles without so much as an irritation...
