Movies on tap ?

Featured Replies

Could anyone that has an MFD3 fitted help me with a question about the unit. I've not been able to find any reference to this anywhere. I know that you can load MP3's etc onto the hard drive and then play them back but what about movies ? Is it possible to load a number of movies onto the hard drive then select and playback as wanted ?

I know it plays DVD's but that means you need to carry a number of disks around with you, not good.:thumbdwn: I tried that with a portable player and found it a pain in the rear end, so over the past few years I have been using a portable hard drive player ( an Archos 700 ). It makes faffing with disks seem stone age.

:)

AFAIK it will only store MP3s. No movies or other data.

Have not tried movies but I did attempt to look at photos that were on an sd card and the unit was not "interested".

Thanks for the replies guys

Looks like I'll have to think of a new plan :weeping: At the moment I use a Garmin Sat Nav and an Archos HD video player, don't use the radio or cd player much. What I'd like to do when I get my Octavia L&K is combine the Sat Nav and Video into an in-dash unit, or possibly mount my existing hardware in-dash, so as to get rid of the messy cabling and mounts. Not to mention getting rid of the hassle of setting the things up each time I want to use them.

Has anyone come across anything like this reasonably priced ?

Cheers

There is a TV kit for the 510 unit i think.

Plug a PSP or Archos into the AUX and get great sound through you car speakers.

I have put my PSP in and it makes me jump if there is a gunshot when turned up loud.

Store mp4 on a psp and watch movies or play games or surf the net (wi-fi) if available or even use Skype.

Nice idea but I'm afraid it defeats the object I'm after. I want to get rid of the external cabling and having to carry other equipment ( sat nav and Archos or PSP ) around with me. As for the audio side of things, I'm one of those people that can't tell the difference between a high end £5000 system and a £50 special from a Sunday market. :o

Cheers
