Featured Replies

Hey, whilst driving the car keeps jerkin in any gear like the enine cuts off and comes back, initial thouhts was fuel filter or sparks sparks only replaced in october/november 2008 and the fuel filters fine. Cut off seems to be getting worse its even conkin out when stationary, my mate think its electrical, anyone had any similar problems ?? Any help would be appreciated short on cash need to get it sorted but dont want to waste money puttin it in a garage for repair. Thanks Jemma

:)So many things it could be, common faults are coil pack, flywheel position sensor, inlet manifold gasket, thermostat housing/coolant sensor.

Does it start OK? Does the temperature guage go up to roughly half way when cruising?

Try the crankshaft sensor.

My mechanic had a Felicia MPI on his ramps. He changed the fuel filter, tried the fuel pump from my defunct Felicia but was still having problems.

crankshaft sensor

dirty/faulty battery earth point

or lambda probe.

Felicias are relatively cheap and easy to fix.

But when my headgasket went I never had the money to fix her back so now have a Favorit.

is it like this in the wet or all the time?

i would take a stab at it being a throttle body problem

Starts fine, tempreatures same as usual staying just below seventy on the gauge which is where its always stayed.

just below seventy is nt good, it too cold it should be barely below the middle or barely above the middle

vacuum advance has a leak if its the same as mine (no coil pack), or,

dirty throttle body, or

over rich fuel and not enough gap on the plug.

change the spark plug you can search the thread for the correct ones to fit, clean the throttle body and replace the filter and check the vacuum advance line. and please fit a thermostat your killing your FE and engine like that.

let us know if everything works out

I'd expect a running temperature between 85 and 100 (depending on engine and gauge calibration [since we're not talking about Lucas electrics]).

I'd start by sorting this because a wrong temperature may cause all sorts of other engine faults (in worst case a wrecked engine due to bore wash; in others poor fuel consumption, stalling, rough running, lack of power...)
