Wiring info needed please.

Featured Replies

Ok guys n gals. Im trying to make this coming home light mod work and im looking for a switched live that goes live either when you open the door or take the keys out the ignition, and that goes negative when you lock the car.

Does such a wire exist? lol.

I'm going to keep analysing the wiring diagrams in the haynes manual, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

surely the interior lights,

Unfortunately no, the interior light system uses a 2 live system. So one wire is live all the time, and when they are off, the 2nd wire goes live. So it would mean the mod would work when interior lights are off.

aren't these only on when the door is open.

They would work but its the same problem. 2 Live wires switch it off. So theres no switched live when they are on. See why im so confused. . . lol

Why not take the 2 lives into a relay. Then when the interior light make ones earth that means the relay gets a live and earth and activates. Allowing you to use the relay to switch on your lights. Would that work?

You can use two lives to switch it off, but the relay doesn't like it and burnt out.

Neither of the wires in the door light is an earth when on.

Im wondering if instead of using a naturally open relay, i could use a naturally closed one. so a current going through it would switch it off. Can't find one on the maplin site yet.
