2003 Octavia alternator failure

Having replaced the battery on my 2003 Octavia Elegance Estate two weeks ago, it went flat again last week. Diagnosis alternator failure. Alternator replaced but battery light stayed on, fault diagnosed as the lead from the alternator to the 150 ampere fuse on top of the battery, the crimping had come loose and all the alternator was doing was heating up the cable while trying to charge the battery. Solution, junk the cable and fuse and run a lead directly to the battery, fault now eliminated. I will be sending the old lead back to Skoda as this must be a design fault, having noted so many posts on this problem.
